Ping Argus is free and provided as-is. The numbers are honest best-effort measurements taken from inside a web browser, not certified readings. Useful for diagnosis and for arguing with your provider — not a substitute for a formal line test.
A diagnostic. It measures what a browser can honestly measure and clearly labels what it cannot. Where a number would be misleading — for instance when the nearest reachable server is too far away to measure your line properly — the site says so and leaves that number out of the grade rather than pretending.
Results depend on things outside anyone's control: how busy your connection is at that moment, your Wi-Fi, your device, your browser, and the route between you and the measurement server. Any of the following will change the result, sometimes a lot:
Treat a single run as an indication. Run it a few times, at different times of day, before drawing conclusions — and always test on a cable before blaming your provider.
You are very welcome to show a result to your provider, and the shareable link exists partly for that. But be aware that providers generally recognise only their own testing, and a browser-based measurement is not a formal line test. Use this to find out what to ask about, not as proof on its own.
A full test moves a meaningful amount of data — potentially several hundred megabytes. On a metered or mobile connection this may cost you money. Please be aware of that before running it on a phone plan with a cap.
The service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee it will be available, accurate, uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from use of this site or reliance on its results, including any decision you make about a provider, a contract, or equipment.
Ping Argus is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any internet provider, or by Ookla, Netflix, Cloudflare, Google, Measurement Lab or any other organisation named on the site. Product and company names are mentioned only to describe what is being measured.
Please don't run automated or scripted tests against the endpoints, or use the service in a way that degrades it for others. The measurement capacity is shared and finite, and abuse gets rate-limited.
